If you are anything like me, you either don't have time or don't enjoy going to a crowded loud gym. Personally I enjoy cardio so I will do outdoors workouts when weather allows, but... that is hardly 4 months out of the year so I have started up my own garage #minigym using some of the fitness & recovery items below. Hopefully some of these will get some ideas flowing for what can be a very simple and easy workout room for you.
Versatile bands for strength training and muscle flexibility. A shocking number of workouts can be done using these, with lots of weight combos and their very compact size makes them less annoying than many alternatives.
Another space saving deal here, and more of an all in one in terms of dumbbells. Choose your desired weight group ( I would go slightly heavier than you think you need for future proofness) and learn a few basic workouts using these.
Yoga Mat -
I don't personally do yoga, but using this for stretching your back, sit-ups and push ups on some hard surfaces can be a great tool to have. I also use one of these as a base on my hard floors to set some heavy things on temporarily in the house.
These are super versatile and a real must have for strength and endurance training. People underestimate just how important these are. Even if you are just doing farmer carries around your garage, it will help you build your grip strength and much more.
Another overlooked item in my opinion. This can be a great tool to break up the routine and it requires very little space to utilize. Also a great thing for warming up before weights, or keeping yourself loose between #summerworkout activities. I like doing some jump rope between big sets rather than sitting around.
Another underrated item right here, and absolutely nobody can claim they don't have space for this. I use this indoors in a bedroom with hardwood floors and it works great. Effortlessly helps you find what ab muscles you are using so you can target what you want to hit.
This doorway pullup bar is a great option for houses or apartments as you can easily take it down and throw it in a closet or under your bed. Works great as a back stretching tool as well which is a bonus.
Sort of another recovery device in my book. I use one of these to stretch my back often even not workout related. Sometimes first thing in the morning I will stretch on this to get loose before I start the day.
If you are anything like me you might dislike running, but can't deny the benefits. Even using this in conjunction with a weight vest and walking at a steep incline can really torch your legs in the best way. One of my favorites for maintaining #wintercardio in the rainy / snowy months.
On another healthy(ish) note, In an effort to be healthier my family has made the switch from soda and now drink a ton of sparkling water. Basically a shot in the dark for me was this #sodastream gaia, thinking it was worth a try and it has become a staple of my kitchen. It is much cheaper and much more #ecofriendly than buying bottled or canned sparkling water. Each tank can easily last for several months with normal use. I've only replaced my co2 about 3 times and have had it for a couple years now. It's also super easy to get refill tanks. You can mail them directly to Sodastream or, what I do, I go to my local hardware store and they swap them out with a fresh one. You even get credit for the turn in on the empty tank. I can't say enough good things about them, if you are on the fence don't hesitate. This is a huegdeal at under $60.00.
